Unlike raw wool, pressed felted wool can be dyed by using a hot water dye bath. To create custom colored wool felt sheet, the wool is first soaked in warm water. Then, the water is heated to a boil, and the fabric dye is added, along with vinegar to bring out the color.
The pressed wool felt is submerged in the fabric dye for up to 30 minutes, and then rinsed until the water runs clear. Once the dyed wool felt is rinsed, any of the excess water is squeezed out, and the wool is left to dry.
